Studio 101 NOLA is the creation-in-progress of DJ Boudreaux, a
Louisiana native who has spent the last 15 years working
in various aspects of the music industry. From recording
street musicians and local rappers to rigging and doing audio
for the biggest festivals and bands in the US, he's been
firmly rooted in his commitment to help facilitate the creative
endeavors of musicians. Although DJ's resume includes gigs
as diverse as Bonnaroo to the Voodoo Music Experience, Tool
and NIN, his dream is to provide an intimate setting here in
New Orleans that encourages local musicians to create.
ArtEgg Studios is the mother ship for Studio 101 NOLA, which is
located in New Orleans at the corner of Euphrosine and
Broad. Originally the 48,000 square foot American Beauty
egg and butter warehouse, ArtEgg is currently home to
a vibrant community of artists, collectors, non-profits and
craftsmen as well as to the Alliance for Affordable Energy's
Green Building Resource Center. During repairs following
Hurricane Katrina, ArtEgg utilized as much eco-technology
as possible, including solar tracking skylights, low-flow
toilets, bamboo flooring, a solar hot water heater, recycled
building materials and reflective white roofs. It is DJ's hope
that he can extend this low-impact ethos to as much of
the construction of Studio 101 NOLA as possible by repurposing
building materials, while maintaining the acoustical integrity
his perfectionism demands.
